The world of custom storage continues to evolve, and TAG Hardware is introducing several important updates for 2026. From new finishing technologies and expanded design options to its continued focus on coordinated colors, these changes give homeowners and design professionals more flexibility when creating premium closets and organized spaces.
At KI Home, we work with homeowners, designers, builders, cabinet makers, closet professionals, and contractors who rely on quality hardware for their projects. We wanted to share some of the most useful TAG Hardware updates for 2026 and what they may mean when planning or specifying a project.
What's New from TAG Hardware in 2026?
TAG Hardware's 2026 program introduces updates focused on color coordination, new finishing options, and continued product development.
One of the notable developments is TAG's move toward new coating processes for certain aluminum components. These updated finishing processes are designed to provide greater consistency and durability while creating additional possibilities for matte, textured, and richer color effects.
TAG also notes that its updated finishing approach is intended to improve quality control and color consistency while reducing the use of solvents and harsh chemicals associated with some traditional finishing processes.
For designers and customers, this means that finish availability and appearance may evolve as TAG continues transitioning and updating portions of its product line.
Understanding TAG Hardware's Coordinated Finishes
One of the defining characteristics of TAG Hardware is its coordinated approach to finishes.
TAG currently identifies six primary metal finishes:
- Polished Chrome
- Matte Nickel
- Matte Aluminum
- Black
- Matte Gold
- Slate
TAG also offers coordinated faux-leather and fabric options that can be combined with its metal finishes to create a more cohesive interior design.
This coordinated approach allows designers to use complementary finishes throughout a closet or across multiple areas of a home instead of treating each hardware component as an isolated element.
Why Can TAG Finishes Look Different From One Product to Another?
This is an important consideration when selecting hardware online.
Some TAG finishes are intentionally designed with variations between different components. Matte Gold, for example, can feature a softer gold appearance on longer aluminum components while certain posts, hooks, end caps, and decorative hardware may have a brighter gold appearance.
Lighting can also significantly affect how a finish is perceived. A finish viewed under showroom lighting may appear different when installed in a customer's home, particularly with different light sources, reflections, and surrounding colors.
For this reason, we recommend that customers and design professionals review product images carefully and, when available, consider ordering physical samples before specifying a large quantity of hardware.
A Note About Finish Availability
Because TAG Hardware continues to update and develop its product finishes, not every product is necessarily available in every finish. Availability can vary depending on the specific product and current manufacturing programs.
If you are planning a larger project or specifying multiple TAG Hardware products, we recommend confirming the finish availability for each item before placing your order.
At KI Home, we will continue to monitor TAG Hardware's product and finish updates and share important information with our customers and trade partners as new changes become available.
